Everybody enjoys something

We all have something that we like to watch and/or listen to for pleasure in most cases. We have movies, music, and writings that are our favorites. I enjoy a good movie and book with the best of them. Although, we will experience times in life where we fele like enjoying someone else’s body of work. We can end up feeling like we are depriving ourselves of something. Have you ever had that feeling and could not put your finger on what was irking you? You know, the nagging sense that there is something more to all of this. Whether you believe it or not, there is. Every singer has to sing, a dancer has to dance, and it is the same for us.

We Can’t Just Spectate

The feeling has become an irritant and it comes from spectating. Whatever we see inspires thought, triggers emotions and many cases lead to a discussion concerning what we saw. There is still a missing piece to this puzzle. What’s absent from this equation? Action. What are we to do with all that we have taken into our minds and hearts? How do we become without doing?

Can a singer honestly be a singer if they never open their mouth? Can a dancer indeed be a dancer if the rhythm of music never overtakes them with the uncontrollable urge to dance? The answer is no. You cannot be what you will not do. Do not miss the operative word here, “will.” The word will in the previous sentence implies that you possess the skill, talent, and opportunity. However, you lack the willingness by reasons you have heard or made up in your head not to do so.

Beyonce Who?

What if Beyonce Knowles never sang a note, or Alex Haley never shared his writing? What if Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King kept his dream to himself? Would we be able to call them a singer, a writer, or a leader? No, they would’ve been an exceptionally talented person with great ideas, but that’s all.

In life, there comes a time when we must do to be. You see, a singer will sing, a dancer will dance, a writer will write, and a leader will lead. So, stop watching and start doing. To learn how to start doing this, check out these posts.  Remember to comment and share.
