Platform and Purpose

Platform and Plateau

On evening I was watching Sunday’s Best on BET and the opening of the show was Anthony Brown and Group Therapy. They opened the show with an awesome performance and a question came to me (well my wife asked me a question that spawned a question). The more I thought about the essential essence of the question it began to force me to ask this question to myself first. You would think if you are asking yourself a question you already have the answer? I can say honestly I’m still working on a definitive answer but while mine is still under construction I will ask this relevant question.

What is the purpose of your current platform?

What are you supposed to be doing right here, right now? I, like many of you have goals, dreams and aspirations of doing this, going here and becoming something. While this is all well and good, we must fairly assess where we are i.e. the platform. Your platform is where you are currently, it is a good thing to strive for another platform but while you are here…what are you to do? Are you working every end of where you are? Are you helping other people reach their platforms and plateaus? Zig Ziglar would often say ” the key to getting what you want is by helping other people get what they want”. Could the purpose of your current platform be a ladder for others to reach theirs? It may be that you are meant to show others with similar platforms,  how to operate effectively on every inch of theirs.

I mention the Sunday’s Best performance because I have seen this group before they arrived on this platform (this level). It was clear to me prior to them getting here, they worked every inch of where they were.

Stay tuned for the next installment where we will talk about; What if your current platform and plateau are the same?
