Singer Sing, and Dancers Dance, And You…

In most cases, we all have something that we like to watch and/or listen to for pleasure. We have movies, music, and writings that are our favorites. I enjoy a good movie and book with the best of them. However, I have experienced times in life where I felt like enjoying someone else’s body of work was somehow robbing me of something. Have you ever had that feeling and could not put your finger on what was irking you? You know, the nagging sense that there is something more to all of this. Whether you believe it or not, there is.

The feeling that has become irritant is one that comes from spectating. Whatever we see inspires thought, triggers emotions and many cases lead to a discussion concerning what we saw. There is still a missing piece to this puzzle. What’s absent from this equation? Action. What are we to do with all that we have taken into our minds and hearts? How do we become without doing?

Can a singer honestly be a singer if the never open their mouth? Can a dancer indeed be a dancer if the rhythm of music never overtakes them with the uncontrollable urge to dance? The answer is no. You cannot be what you will not do. Do not miss the operative word here “will”. The word will in the previous sentence implies that you possess the skill, talent, and opportunity but lack the willingness for any of the reasons you have heard or made up in your head not to do so. In life, there comes a time when we must do in order to be. You see, a singer will sing, a dancer will dance, a writer will write writer, and a leader will lead. So, stop watching and start doing.
